Privacy policy

What we collect when you use this site, why, and where it goes. In plain language.

Overview

myCIO ("we", "us") provides fractional CIO and technology advisory services to New Zealand businesses. This policy covers the personal information we collect through this website, mycio.co.nz, and in the course of talking with you about our services. We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

The only personal information this website actively collects is what you choose to give us through the contact form or a direct email: your name, email address, and whatever you write in your message. We do not use cookies, and we do not run any analytics or tracking scripts on this site.

If your enquiry turns into a conversation or an engagement, we will hold onto further information you share with us in the normal course of that work, such as details about your business and the technology environment we are advising on.

How we use it

We use what you send us to respond to your enquiry and, if things progress, to deliver our services. We do not use your information for anything else, and we do not sell or rent it to third parties.

Where it goes

The contact form on this site is handled by Formspree, a third-party form processor based in the United States, which delivers your message to our inbox. That means your name, email, and message pass through Formspree's systems in order to reach us. We have chosen Formspree because it is a well-established processor with its own security and privacy practices; you can read those at formspree.io.

This site also loads fonts from Google Fonts. Loading a font means your browser makes a request to Google's servers, which will see your IP address as part of that request. We do not use Google Fonts, or any other service on this site, for advertising or tracking.

Outside of Formspree and Google Fonts, we do not share your information with any other third party unless required by law.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry and engagement information for as long as it is useful to our relationship with you, and as needed to meet our legal and accounting obligations. If you would like us to delete information we hold about you, email us and we will action it, subject to any legal requirement to keep records.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. To make a request, email hello@mycio.co.nz.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can also contact the New Zealand Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the site or our practices change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
